Mono Development Environment for Windows .NET Programmers

Software Requirements for Windows .NET Developers that will like to develop .NET applications that work well with Mono on its supported platforms

• Install IIS/Personal Web Server (Optional but highly recommended)

• Visual C# 2003 Standard Edition, Visual Basic .NET Standard or Install Visual Studio .NET 2003 Pro (Optional but highly recommended)
  

• Install the Gecko Rendering Engine for Gecko# (Optional but highly recommended)

• Install Gtk# SDK for .NET Framework 1.1 SDK

• Install the Gtk# Library Reference for Visual Studio .NET (Optional)

• Install Mono 1.1.4 for Windows

• Install Mono Launch

• Install VSPrj2make Visual Studio .NET 2003 Add-in (Only if you have Visual Studio .NET 2003 or one of its members e.g. Visual C# 2003)
  

Additional Recommended Components and Packages:

• Install gVim for Win32

• Install Mozilla

• Install The Gimp 2.2 for Win32

• Install Open Office 1.1.3 for Windows

Other recommendations:

Copy nmake.exe from the .NET Framework SDK bin directory to the Windows sytem32 directory (this will make it accessible to the command-line no matter what is the current working directory.

Install the complete Mozilla suite -- This will give you a superb IMAP4/POP3 email client, address book and IRC capabilities that will allow you to converse at the Mono IRC Channel over at irc.gimp.org.
